Composure Archival Print

This series was created by Brenda Bogart starting in 2017 and is inspired by and named after the fruit of the spirit in Galatians 5:22-23; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and composure, and this is what she has to say about this collection: 

“In this series I have moved to collaging with more than paper to give dimensionality and to further tell a story through the use of meaningful objects. In these pieces you see feathers from my aunts guinea hens, paper weaving, my Dad’s marbles and brass shot gun shells, old metal key holes, and covers of hand lettered French documents and posters from the 17 and 1800’s which I purchased in Paris for some of the hats. Paired with these special objects in “Joy” is a discarded saw blade that I found on a walk in front of a construction site in our neighborhood. When I am creating, I tend to grab for whatever is right in front of me to see if it works. In this case I painted the rejected saw blade gold and added the blue hair bands straight out of my pony tail.”
